WELCOME

Welcome to The Cancer Resource Center. I've spent the past few years gathering these resources. I am currently using them, or I have used them in the past.  I wanted to have a space where everything I found valuable, is in one place. You will find information on everything from supplements to health tips. Whether you're a patient, caregiver, or just seeking information, I think you will find something of value.

I am an elementary teacher without any medical training. I am not giving medical advice, just sharing resources.

My Story

My name is Jen Burns and I'm 53. I live in Los Angeles, California with my husband and 18 year old daughter. In January of 2012, I was diagnosed with Stage 3C Invasive Ductal Carcinoma breast cancer. It rocked my world! I was 41 years old and had forgotten to get a mammogram when I was 40. Within a week of being diagnosed, I had surgery and the tumor was removed along with 14 lymph nodes. I went through three months of chemotherapy and 6 weeks of radiation. I was put on Tamoxifen for 9 years and was cancer-free.

In December of 2020, my cancer came back. I had wrist drop and I thought it was a nerve reaction from using my laptop so much during the pandemic. It took a few months to figure out that it was a tumor in my brachial plexus. I now have stage 4 breast cancer. My oncologist put me on Taxotere and gave me radiation. The cancer went away in February of 2022, and then it came back in May of 2022. Since then, the tumors have moved around my body and have gotten slightly bigger. They've mutated and I have gone through seven different types of chemotherapy. I currently have triple negative stage 4 breast cancer.

Since my latest diagnosis, I have been on a soul searching, Health Revival, and life-changing journey. I have read so many books, and looked up so many resources, I couldn't not share them with other people. There are a lot of things that have brought me hope.  I hope you find something useful on this website.

I have read that a vegetable based diet and regular exercise are the two most important things for a healthy body. I have changed my diet about every 2 months, depending on the nutrition book I am reading at the time. It's hard to know what is the best way to go. Now I focus on getting as many organic raw and cooked vegetables into my body as I can. Everyday I either juice, or I have a veggie smoothie. I eat very little animal protein. When I do, it's grass-fed and organic. I also try to limit my carbohydrates by staying away from sugar, rice, and flour. Most of the diet inspirations come from the links I am going to list. I found these to be the most valuable information.
